About the event
Housing affordability is one of the most urgent issues of our time - just about everything that makes a city function runs downstream from it. As part of the Community Resiliency Series, we're putting together a working group to discuss housing!
We're excited to announce that we've partnered with the local PDX chapter of Strong Towns @strongtownspdx to start a discussion group for the book "Escaping the Housing Trap."
Reading the book "Escaping the Housing Trap" is recommended but **optional** because what it really is going to be is an educated discussion about the housing crisis and how we can collectively address it. The book is really just a starting point for conversation.
This book offers a clear and accessible explanation as to how and why we got into this societal predicament and also offers potential answers for how we can transcend beyond it in ways that are community centric and locally focused.
A better society is only possible if we figure out housing affordability. The more people read this book, the more empowered we can be to address it at the local level.
We will be meeting on Sundays, 8/25, 9/8, & 9/22 at Psanctum Thrift ( 4033 SE Milwaukie Ave Apt A, Portland, OR 97202) from 4:30 - 6:00pm and will meet bi-weekly.
The discussions will be hosted by community organizer, John Carter.
We'll start out each meeting by introducing ourselves and then opening up the discussion to the group with some prompts from the book.
As mentioned, reading the book is optional to join this club!
Please reach out at contact@psanctum.org with any questions.
See you on Sunday, 8/25!
